The College of Veterinary Medicine at Tikrit University, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center at the University, organized a scientific course entitled “Nipah Virus: Clinical and Epidemiological Challenges of Zoonotic Diseases,” held at the Animal House Hall of the College.
The course was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Maher Saber Owaine and Lecturer Manar Sabah Issa. It covered several important topics, most notably an introduction to the Nipah virus infection, its biological characteristics, and its modes of transmission between animals and humans, as it is considered a highly dangerous zoonotic disease.
The course also addressed the clinical symptoms caused by the virus, the epidemiological challenges associated with its spread, as well as diagnostic and preventive approaches. It further highlighted the role of veterinary and healthcare professionals in controlling and limiting outbreaks.
The event was attended by a number of faculty members and students, who actively engaged with its topics due to their scientific and public health importance, particularly in the field of zoonotic diseases and preventive awareness.
