The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at Tikrit University / College of Veterinary Medicine organized an awareness campaign entitled:

“Together Towards a Safe Life… Your Life Matters and Your Voice Is Heard”

This initiative stems from the College’s commitment to supporting students’ mental health and fostering a safe and supportive university environment.

The campaign included the distribution of awareness brochures to students addressing the rising cases of suicide among young people and university students. The materials warned of the dangers of accumulated psychological stress, social isolation, bullying, reluctance to seek help, and the negative impact of certain digital content that may intensify feelings of frustration and hopelessness.

The brochures emphasized the importance of recognizing early signs of psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety, and loss of hope, and stressed the need not to ignore warning signals expressed by individuals or observed in their surroundings. They also highlighted that seeking psychological support is not a sign of weakness, but rather a courageous step toward recovery.

Furthermore, the campaign recommended promoting a culture of open dialogue within the university campus, strengthening social bonds among students, and seeking assistance from specialized units within the College when experiencing distress or psychological crises. It also encouraged peer support and the spread of optimism and solidarity.

This campaign reflects the College’s dedication to reinforcing the principle that every student’s life is valuable, and that the university environment should be a safe space where voices are heard and hope is nurtured.
