The External Clinic Unit at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tikrit, received a veterinary case from the Salahuddin Governorate Police Command involving a deceased dog from the K-9 Police Dog Management and Training Unit.
The specialized veterinary team immediately carried out a forensic necropsy to accurately determine the cause of death, thoroughly documenting all findings and preparing a technical report, which was then delivered to the concerned authorities within the Police Command.
These procedures come as part of the veterinary services and technical support provided by the College to state institutions—particularly security agencies—to enhance their efforts in performing their field duties. Students in the final stages of study participated in the necropsy as part of their practical training for the Forensic Medicine course, where they observed the examination steps and recorded notes and explanatory instructions presented by the supervising professors.
The College’s administration affirmed its ongoing commitment to supporting state institutions by providing scientific and practical services and enhancing students’ skills through their involvement in real-world cases that contribute to developing their professional expertise.
